Copper foiling in 2 and 3D
One and two day workshops
Choosing from a wide selection of coloured and textured glass, you will use traditional techniques, sometimes known as 'Tiffany' to make light catchers, panels and items in 3D.
Copper foiling is very versatile. Make abstract light catchers, a flat panel, flowers, angels, stars, birds, candle stands, boxes....there really is so much choice.....experiment!
You will learn how to create a template (but starting off with templates supplied) cut glass, use a grinder, attach copper foil, solder and add loops for hanging. On one or two day courses you will be working from templates provided for you but these can be adapted and you are welcome to bring ideas but please keep it simple! You are welcome to bring ribbon or chain for hanging items.
If you join for two days, you can choose to make a 4 sided box lantern...see photos below.
The day involves more soldering than on a leaded course and might not be suitable if you are prone to asthma or breathing difficulties. Mosaic coasters and tiles is an option on the day if you want to take a break from soldering.
If you need more information or are not sure, please ask me.
All classes run from 10.30am - 4pm with a well deserved half hour break for your packed lunch.
Unlimited hot drinks are on offer throughout the day too!
What's included?
All tools and materials for the course are provided, however, this does not include red, dark purple and pure orange glass but this can be bought at trade price on the day and is normally £1-3.
You will be asked to bring a few household items with you.
